My wife and I are an older couple, near retirement, who moved to Vancouver, WA, a suburb of Portland, OR a few years ago. When we moved here we opened a small business and after the first eight months of being in business, we began to generate a nice income -- certainly enough to meet our needs. We owned our home without a mortgage, but had accumulated some debt from the first eight months of running our business that we needed to pay off in order to ease any financial pressure we were feeling. We'd used the same bank for our entire adult lives and had paid off a mortgage that we had with them before moving to the Northwest. But, because our business was relatively new, our bank hesitated to refinance our home for a small loan to clear our debt, and instead recommended we take out a reverse mortgage on our home. I had a very difficult purchase transaction and was seeking a loan under the FHA's new "Back to Work Program". Because the program is new not many lenders have experience with this program. Erin was the second lender I worked with after the first lender gave up. Although the process was challenging, Erin did what he said he would do which was get me a loan where the other bank had failed.
